Horror in two sentences

While keeping with the spooky holiday spirit, the Arches team challenged themselves to write a creepy or scary story using only two sentences. These are a few that were created out of this challenge. We hope you enjoy them. Think you can create a chilling story in two sentences or less? We would love to read them. Challenge yourself and copy your story into the comment box at the bottom of this post.

Have a frightful yet safe Halloween weekend,
The Arches Team

AUTOPSY

I had been waiting for hours in the cold dark room. When the doctor finally arrived, he turned on the lights and flipped a switch that activated the neon lights in the window: Autopsy in Progress.

I woke up and found that my closet light was on; I did not remember turning it on before I went to bed. Wrapping a blanket around myself, I walked to my closet, peeked in, and saw two glowing eyes.

SCARECROW

Children’s screams filled the fields of dried corn stalks watched over by the ratty old scarecrow hung on a post in the middle of the maze. She was lost, the screams grew loader and the post was bare.

BLOOD

I heard a loud crash, followed by a manic shriek of laughter coming from my daughter’s nursery. I walked into the room and saw, “die,” written in blood on the walls; I looked down and saw blood dripping from my fingertips.

CAT

The children prayed that their dead cat would come back.
In the middle of the night, it did.

chiave

As I put my key in the door to unlock my room, I heard barking coming from inside my room. I opened the door quickly, but everything in my room looked the same as before; yet I still heard barking.

CEMETARY

The noon siren blared throughout the countryside waking the sleeping inhabitants in every home as the clocks turned midnight. The next morning found the homes vacant and the cemeteries full.
