There are many different ways to style hair and many variations of braiding. Here is an easy, step-by-step on how to Dutch braid. Once you know the basics of it, you can apply it in any style to create unique looks with Dutch braiding.
Step-by-step on how to create a Dutch braid:
Step one: You want to start off with three sections like a normal braid.
Step two: Then you want to take one outside section and cross it under the middle section.
Step three: Making sure you keep the three sections separate at all times, take the opposite outside section and cross it under the middle section.
Step four: With each outer side piece, add in a section of hair that is not part of the three sections and cross it under the middle section.
Step five: Repeat these steps until there is no more hair to add or braid.
Tip: To get a loose and full looking braid, pull the braided pieces outward to the desired look.
You will notice that the braid sits on top of all the hair and looks like an inverted french braid. This is the Dutch braid effect and that means you have successfully created a Dutch braid! Get creative and style the braid however you like. This step-by-step guide is a basic Dutch braid, but it can be incorporated into so many other looks.
