Dana Christoph, junior graphic design student at Mount Mary College, has designed the poster chosen to market the 2012 Irish Fest. Her creation was selected out of a field of entries from graphic design students enrolled at Mount Mary, MIAD and UW-Milwaukee.
Christoph’s winning concept brings the old Irish traditions of music, culture and clothing into the newer environment of Milwaukee. Her original color design, which took 35-40 hours to create, was hand-drawn in Adobe Illustrator, then brought into Adobe Photoshop for texture.
Christoph is the first Mount Mary student to receive this honor. She is very excited about the recognition winning this contest will bring her from the graphic design community.
“Something like this really puts me on the map,” Christoph said.
Her poster will be available for purchase during Irish Fest, and Christoph will be on hand during the festival to autograph her work.
Christoph expressed her thanks to Karla Mattson, Mount Mary graphic design instructor. “She taught me almost everything I know.”
